At Turbulence we have always prided ourselves on the quality of training we provide. 2007 sees the Turbulence Team set new standards in kite instruction.

Our 2007 Academy features some of the UK and Worlds best instructors and coaches and the continuation of our personal teaching system.

We teach at every level and for every individual. We offer a bespoke teaching system that offers the individual the opportunity to learn at their own pace. By teaching on an hourly system we offer the opportunity to learn as much or as little as your wallet and stamina will allow.

Our instructors work on a mile stone basis giving you things to practice after your lessons to continue the skill development until we next see you. Kitesports are all muscle memory sports and as such take a period of time to learn. Unlike other UK and world schools we look at making you a kiter. So don’t expect to come and learn to kitesurf in 2 days because it requires a lot more time effort and experience.

Basic starter lessons:

The basics element of all kitesports is kites. So that’s where we start. We will take you on the beach and teach you all the basics of kites. With starter lessons it is an ideal opportunity to understand the basics of kites and how they work, where they develop power, how to launch and land and how to put those skills of wrapping and unwrapping lines into practice.

Long sleeves and trousers to protect knees and elbows
Sturdy footwear (no slaps)
Sunglasses
Sun lotion
Appropriate clothing for the time of year (coat if its cold)
Average fitness level

Kitebuggy and landboard lessons:

Once you have mastered the basics of kiteskill we can take you through to landboards and buggies. Flying down the beach or just cruising this is the ideal way to understand how the elements join together.

Good basic 4 line kite skill

Kitesurfing:

With all your basics on land under wraps we can take you into the water. With kitesurfing being the one that so many people want to learn it is vital that the basics are there in the first place. We can take you to any level you require on the water from basics to advanced instruction.

Individual requirements:

Sun lotion

Appropriate clothing for the time of year (coat if its cold)
Good fitness levels
Excellent 4 line kite skill
Able to swim 200 meters comfortably

One on One coaching:

As all our lessons are booked on a one on one or one on two basis for you and a partner we also have the ability to offer coaching sessions. These sessions are again based on your level and what you want to learn. Many of our coaching sessions set out as quite ambitious, however your coach will always evaluate your level and advise on the best elements to concentrate on.

Pro Sessions:

We have a number of professional riders on our team and these riders are always happy to run individual coaching sessions. So if you want to learn to buggy jump with Rob Hills or lean to handle pass with Hoggy then book in for a pro coaching session. (please ensure you tell us what you want to learn, and remember not to overestimate your ability levels)

Kite Set up session:

Check the set up of your kite, bar, lines, handles, absolutely anything. Our team have years of experience in getting the best from their equipment. If you are struggling with your kit then let us help. From bar and handle set up to tuning your kit for maximum performance. We also offer a range of custom built products for those who wish to push the limits of performance. With an hour session we can transform your kiting experiences and your kiting.

Kids sessions:

All our instructors are CRB checked and are all qualified to teach children. We take kids from as young as 8 but this is dependant on the maturity of the child. We require that any child (under 18) is accompanied by a parent or guardian for their lesson.

Group sessions:

We do cater for groups and corporate clients, however all our group sessions are priced on a bespoke basis so contact us on turbulence@ukkiting.com or call us at the store for details.

School sessions:

We offer a complete school session which is available to either infants or primary ages. These sessions involve us coming to your school and providing a complete half day session with the students and teachers. These sessions are based on kitesports and tie into areas of the national curriculum. We provide a complete package for the school for after our session. These packages provide teacher support material and interactive learning for the kids and provide a good basis of ongoing learning development in areas such as the forces of nature and weather monitoring. The teaching support packages provide details of bringing kites into the school environment in many areas from science to maths. The packages also include our kite building workshops. Equipment:

We only use the latest equipment from the best manufacturers. You are of course welcome to bring your own equipment and our instructors will happily show you how to set up and get the best from your kit.

Saftey:

We have the highest levels of safety available and have over 10 years kitesports teaching experience. We will make you an autonomous kiter as we will be kiting with you aswell, so its in our interests to ensure you are safe.

Booking:

To book into our lesson diary you need to call the store – 08456 589656. We will handle your enquiry and book you into a time slot and a day. Our coaches will then contact you and confirm the details of your lesson. You need to remember that all our lessons are weather and condition dependant. We will book you into an agreed time and then contact you in advance of your lessons time to confirm location and time details.

Accommodation:

We have a number of accommodation deals with local hotels and B&B’s and can arrange any level of accommodation for you.

Locations:

We only charge when we teach and as all our lessons are weather dependant our instructors/ coaches have the final say on the conditions for the lesson. We use a variety of locations across the North Wales coast and can cover a number of wind directions however we do not offer transport to our teaching locations so you will be responsible for getting yourself there and back.

Costings:

Our lessons are charged on a per person per hour basis. We charge a fixed rate of £35 per hour for our kitesports lessons.

Our pro sessions are only available on a one on one basis and are charged at £45 per hour.

Turbulence Academy Mountain Bike Tours

With kiting being a wind dependant sport there are obviously days when we can’t teach. Conditions such as no beach or no wind mean that you could have half a day free after a morning’s kiting.

To help our customers out we have joined forces with one of our instructors, Steve Hewitt, a member of the Turbulence Wet Sheep Mountain Bike team, to offer a mountain bike alternative to kiting.

Steve can provide guided tours around the area and across some of the premier tracks throughout north Wales. These include the tracks at Betws Y Coed.

Steve will provide bikes, helmets and all info for the half day.

These tours can be arranged with the store and are a great alternative to kiting.

Prices

Tour prices start from £75 per person for a half day. We can also arrange mountain bike hire where required.
